What about the 100D?

It desperately needs an update. Wouldn't suggest buying one today given the internal tech is just too outdated. Actually it was already dated at launch.

I agree that the 100d as a series would be a good entry point in the Canon EF world.

Relatively small, easy to use, good affordable lenses-accessoires (10-18mm 24mm F2.8) would be the key selling points.

No it isn't once you mount a lens. With the 18-55mm it's larger then the competing Nikon since they use smaller collapsible zooms.

It does need a better sensor, AF system, Battery, swivelscreen, processor (1080p 60fps), internal timelapse, WiFi and it needs it now.

It's a limited system with just 1 crosstype. Focus and recompose is a dinosaur technique these days and it needs improvements in that regard in order to be competitive.

All mirrorless can focus with great accuracy across the whole frame. Nikon D5200 has 39-af points from which 9 are crosstype and it costs 400 bucks at the moment.

9 all crosstype would be bare minimum while the 19 point system found in the 70d and current rebels would be excellent. The 80d will likely get the 7d mk2 system to differentiate itself above the rebels. Or Canon makes a new middle road system. who knows.

That means only up and down since articulation to the side will make the body wider due to the hinge. This is fine since many mirrorless share this design trade-0ff.

They can keep the body more or less the same perhaps a deeper grip like the Nikon D5500 which could also house the bigger battery. Better battery life would be a key advantage over mirrorless options. Giving it limited juice just destroys one key advantage of Dslr's.

the grip is surprisingly good...most or not going to get the 100D for a 70-200F2.8

It's the smallest Dslr grip bar none. For anyone not having baby hands using such a lens = big challenge.

The current 24mp Canon sensor is not the best but it is good enough for this place in the market.

AF system is tough choice between 2 existing systems. 9 all crosstype for affordability and saving the point in buying the 750d/760d. Or the 19 all crosstype for longevity. You can already get the 39 9-crosstype af module in a D5200 for cheap these days. Just a matter of time till they launch a D3500 with that module.

The other points are pretty straight forward. Canon has them for years now with good implementation too.

i think canon should do 2 replacements...one as this one, which is just most the bits pinched from the latest rebel so thats probably the 760/750D if it comes out soon..

and do a 100Dpro with some weather sealing the best APS-c sensor canon do, probably from the 80D very good AF, a pentaprism inplace of the pentamirror,, better video like the 70D is now better buffer and FPS but canon will have to keep it below the 80D ...will put a lot on the price

Don't think that many people are interested in the pro one with the big jump in price. Ergonomics fast access to controls is just important in that part of the market. Which is why some mirrorless become bigger body wise then the 100d.

You need some space to place those buttons without it becoming fidly.
