And I don't like touchscreen focus; I'm sure I'm not alone with that. Sure, it only takes a tap, but the camera will be somehow suspended with one hand alone because the other hand is busy tapping and can't stabilize the lens, and the viewfinder isn't used and thus the third point of stabilization, the brow, isn't used either.

I've used touch screen AF on my GX7 but found that I often times accidentally moved the AF point.  I eventually used direct AF control via the five-way controller which is the way my Nikon D300 worked and found that to be the best set up (for me).  So, yeah, you're not the only one who doesn't prefer touch screen AF.  I have my EM5 II set up to select the AF point the same way, too.
