I don't know about the 5D forum, but the Rebel forum and 7D forum have all but closed down due to this issue. Than fanboys are extremely vocal. They deny any reviews or data that indicate Canon is behind in sensor development. If that does not work, they claim that more DR is absolutely useless and results in poor photographic results. If that does not work, they get nasty. When they get nasty, the DPR moderators close the thread instead of taking action against the fanboys. A few years ago those were helpful and active forums. Now they are only a place for newcomers to ask a few questions. No serious discussions are possible.

Hahahaha.....

Something happened to this thread.... looks like all the Canon posts got deleted?

Hahaha, looks like you got an official answer to the question posted in your poll. I don't remember seeing equivalence arguments being deleted, even after they go way past the insanity threshold.

It looks like we lost canonvaggio as well. Looks like he may have been onto something with DPR's staff bias.

My vote goes to m4/3 and equivalence. Every single lens or camera release for Micro 4/3 causes waves of trolls swarming into that forum and article's comment section to lay their profound wisdom on the filthy unwashed masses of small sensor users.
That is a myth popular in that forum. Most threads that lead to an E discusion either start with an innocent question by a noob, and get answers from the euivalence denialist crowd, or are started as such. Many users in that forum do not subscribe to it, but there is a large Olympian exceptionalism faction: our cameras best physics!
To my surprise, the absurdity of some claims in such flame wars reached such a level that some of those actually became quite entertaining again. I've learned a lot from the announcement of that Olympus 300mm lens. Funny stuff :-D

But what about "ISO cheating" by Fuji? I'm not a Fuji user and I've seen that being argued about. Sound like a perfect inflammatory topic.
sometimes discused there. Does not lead to bloodshed.

Chea
And what about EOS M bashing? Or do everyone just accept that it sucks, so bashing it can't be inflammatory? Or is it no longer a laughing stock of mirrorless world? I remember times when bashing it was trendy, so I figure it might still be the inflammatory topic.
Seems you love a god bash as long as ot is not on your prefered gear

Yeah, I wonder how many of those are actual noobs asking a genuine question.

While there's certainly a bit of what you suggest here (ie. some MFT users don't fully get what equivalence is), the bait is usually something like "it's only f/3.6" followed by some ridiculous claim. Maybe I should start collecting those and compile into some kind of "the best of...", could make a fun read down the road.

Not sure what you're saying here. Is EOS M no longer bashed by pretty much everyone who's not a Canon user? I always got the impression it's the punching bag of the mirrorless world and the easiest target. But if you say it's changed than I have to take your word for it.

For brand based talk, it's about Nikon cameras and whether they belong in the bin or not.

First reaction: The Nikon Df gets put away with the rest of the rubbish.

For non brand based talk, it's got to be the Film vs Digital flamewars, and all those blind camera enthusiasts who have never seen the difference between the two mediums.

Ironically the memory card cabinet at my old job was the warmest dust free place where I could hang my film to try.

If Canon doesn't start waking up, in five years all discussions about Canon will be in the vintage cameras section.
So the Canon market share then will look like the Sony now?
☺️😎
Please note: Vintage cameras are going up in price and are highly sought after. If that's where Canon will be... well you can't plan for something like that. It just comes from being on top of the game upon release and bringing something unique to the table.

ps. Canon has been 'lagging' behind in sensor tech for the last 5 years already.... and they are number one in sales.

Never ever ask if jpeg is sometimes a good option over raw sometimes. What brand is inflammatory?... the soldiers defending each brand do it well here.

I remember when the DR comparison was done between the 7DII and D7000. Those threads caused the most heat and people were banned. Then a bunch of other people just left for good.

Then the Fong thread comparing the A6000.

Whew those were good times.
LOL. +1

You missed the "True D700 successor still doesn't exist" topic, which may top all the ones in your poll. ;)
