I don't think that the sensor is at issue with the G5X as outlined by the OP; it's the lens that's the problem.

I was talking about sensor/lens as a combo that works together, providing the image you get in the end. We shouldn`t discuss them apart as we are not shooting them apart.

Sure you can. That's like saying you shouldn't discuss an engine and transmission separately in a car because you use them both together. It doesn't work that way. The lens and sensor are separate components that have their respective characteristics, good or bad, and should be judged accordingly.

Please don`t take things out of context, quoting just one (small) part of my post.

Of course we can discuss them apart, but the point redsars (OP) made here was that his G12 (meaning lens/sensor combo, not these two apart) produced better images than his G5 X (meaning lens/sensor combo, not these two apart) - which I would like to see examples of, trying to understand the way he used both cameras to form such opinion.

The rest of the post you quoted (the rest you didn`t quote, that is, but I hope you at least read it) explains my thoughts very clearly (and even mentions some possible scenarios), so I`m not really sure I understand the purpose of your reply, in context of this topic, or the question I raised.

We don`t need to judge lenses/sensors separately here, we all know their pros and cons very well (so nothing to really argue about), but it seems the lens/sensor combo comparison is a bit unclear (G12 vs G5 X, in terms of image quality).
