Thanks for your comments, Albert.  I would be cautious about using a hair dryer, because the electronics in both the lens and body are very sensitive to heat, and there is no practical way to measure the internal temperature of those components from the outside.  That is why I prefer to use a sealed bag and desiccant material such as rice or dry packs.  By the way, be sure to keep any desiccant materials in sealed bags until the moment of use; otherwise they will already have absorbed moisture from the atmosphere by the time you need them.

If I was not clear before, I still do not completely trust the 14-140 Mk 1 that went into salt water.  I only use it as a backup for other lenses, and would never carry it as my only lens on even a short day hike.  I am still unable to explain why it is still working at all.  Surely, there is some salt remaining inside, that will still cause corrosion eventually.
