Is the XPro2 really for me?
Jan 17, 2016
Hi guys! I need some gear advice.
A couple of months ago I sold my old Olympus DSLR and bought a Fujifilm XT-10 with the 23mm f1.4. I love this little camera and carry it almost everywhere.
I was thinking of buying the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens in order to carry the camera even more, especially because I’m making a trip in South-America in March. Also I would like to replace the 23mm by a 35mm or a 56mm, since the only thing that I photograph when not shooting landscapes and street are my kids (mostly portraits).
Also I would love to try a rangefinder type camera. Reason for that is that I have realized that specially my little girl gets a bit intimidated by the fact that the camera covers all my face. I think if only my right eye was covered, she would be more relaxed, thus making her expressions better. I thought of adding a X100T and then I would not need to go for the pancake. But the slow autofocus scares me a bit. Also I don’t want to buy a camera that will probably get a new shake up soon. My guess is that the fourth generation is coming in the next 6 months or so. I know, nobody knows :).
So you know what’s coming: I’m really tempted to buy the XPro2. Things that are making me a little reluctant are:
1) Price - The camera is really expensive. I would have to sell my XT-10 and a lot of other things in order to finance it.
2) Rangefinder - I have never owned a rangefinder. I think that I will love it but I am not sure. Any rangefinder lovers or haters, who would like to add some comments? That would be awesome!
3) Maybe it’s better to have two bodies with two primes instead of only one terrific body. Then I wouldn’t have to switch lenses that much.
4) Too big
I have to add that I am not a professional photographer but only a very enthusiastic amateur, who happens to sometimes make good shots :).
