I agree with you, but if you think about it, samsung never treated nx like an average camera system.
They managed it as a consumer electronics set of products. Both for marketing, customer support, presence on the media.
Probably they don't really understand the difference, at a managerial level, among nx1 and galaxy s6.
Yes TechnoWorld,
Your observation and explaination of Samsung"s Silence must be correct. They just do not understand there is a differenve between a camera system and a line of consumer electronics.
Knowing this, thanks to your post, opens the door a little bit on my possibly buying NX gear in the future.
I love my NX1. Here are two more 4K still grabs from the same clip from which I pulled the two ducks/geese posted above:
Mr. Seagull
Mrs. Swan ( I think )
Yes, the swan is soiled as pictured.
Thes two captures, ordinary pics to most viewers, are moments that I was only able to capture usung my NX1's 4K video. I would not have captured these moments with burst shooting.
I will have to respectfully disagree....
Any modern DSLR such as a Canon 70D + kit zoom can capture these with ease....
Thank you for your opinion.
You may change your opinion if you knew how these pics were captured: The clip from which these pics were grabbed was less than 2 minutes in length. It was a 4K clip taken with my NX1 on my monopod, which I held upside down with the hot shoe next to the top of my shoe. This gets me at ground level and prevents my camera from dipping into the sand of the beach.
In this position the LCD is not viewable so I shot, as I ususlly do, in sidewinder fashion judging what is in my field of view. I have years of experience shooting this way. It has become a bit better than hit or miss shooting for me.
The seagull's foot raised while taking a step constitutes a moment for me and my purposes. The swan was rapidly rubbing its nostrils along it's chest back and forth, my video caught his head away from its body. Another captured moment for my purposes. These two moments are actions that I would not be able to percieve as they occured. I could not anticipate these movements with burst mode. I was able to enjoy the birds as they walked on the beach and not have to keep my camera cocked and ready to shoot.
And there's no "moments" in the above examples I am afraid.....if you have to screen grab what about grabbing better moments?
As I said these are captured moments that meet my purposes. Read my previous sentence and you will see my "captured moments".
Personally I enjoy waiting for the moments and would never substitute that with screen caps
I took over 100 shots over an hour for the shot below to get "The One".
The feeding bird is a great shot and took alot of your time and effort.
Try 4K screen grabs next time, you may enjoy doing so. Also you should try getting your camera away from your eye level, which will provide many useful vantage points for composition.
Thanks for your input.

Can't you tilt the LCD of the day NX1 to see it at that angle? Another great feature of the camera.
Your very good question brings up one of a few design issues of the NX1 which confirm that the NX1 was not designed with the Professional Photographer in mind:
When mounted on my tripod/monpod head you can not tilt the LCD fully as you can on other cameras. I usually use a plumber's washer between the camera and the quick release plate to enable the LCD to move fully. I was not using one for this shoot.
Shooting sidewinder is more productive for me as I can see the birds coming and going in and out if my field of view which you would not becable to do using the LCD. Shooting in this manner the LCD enables you to fine tune your sidewinder shooting.
Either way it makes for fun photography.
