Got one yesterday and tried on my A7. Worked fine with Sony lenses but not so fine with Tamron lenses which autofocus on my A77?

If they auto-focus on A77 why not on adapter?

Okay for Manual focus though

Thanks

Don't know why your Tamron lenses don't work. My Sigmas work fine with the adapter.

LA-EA4 works fine with my Tamron 70-300 SP USD : the AF is as fast or even faster than the AF of my A58. I can take photo of moving childs, ice skating, birds ... No problem at all.

I have a couple of A-mount Sigmas (70-200 f2.8 and 100-300 f4) that works pretty okay on LA-EA4, even with an 1.4x extender. But I do know that some of the older Sigma A-mount lenses need to be sent to Sigma for a FW update in order to make them work properly on a SLT body (which the LA-EA4 pretty much is).

This would be my first suspicion, unless it was for the fact that they work on your A77...

What focus mode are you using in your A7? AF/MF/DMF? Remember, the setting in the camera can override the setting on the lens. If I slide the focus ring on my Sigma 100-300 f4 to manual, AF will still kick in, unless it's set to MF in camera.

I also moved from the a77 and now have the a7rii.

the LA-EA4 adapter works fine for the two a-mount lenses I'm keeping - the Tamron 90mm/2.8 macro and the Tamron 200-500.

Don't know what the problem might be with yours. The focus speed is definitely sluggish on these lenses, but no worse than they were on the a77. The speed of native FE lens focusing just has me spoiled. I've only used the 200-500 once for a moon picture, but on both lenses I find myself setting it to manual focus. With focus peaking on the a7Rii, I find that to be faster than relying on the AF in the Tamrons.
