Fuji film simulation profiles on Lightroom and posterization
I've been noticing posterization in some pictures when I apply Fuji film sim profiles via Lightroom.
Seems to happen more dramatically with some (like Velvia). Doesn't seem to happen if I just stick to the Adobe Standard profile.
I've also noticed that white balance seems to affect this. Leaving WB "as shot" in Lightroom (I shoot AWB) seems to have the worst posterization. Setting a custom WB makes things better.
So, the question is: what's going on here? Is it a known issue with Fuji's film profiles? Should I avoid those altogether (even though I do like the colors they generate)? Any camera settings I'm ignoring?
Camera: X-T10 (AWB, manual or aperture priority modes, RAW).
Software: Lightroom CC 2015.3 release.
