Thank you all for your helpful posts. I don't want a 5D. It might give me the bokeh I want but it's so old in terms of other features.

Yes. It´s not always easy as "just like that". What you can also do is to get very sharp and longer lenses, like Samyang 135mm f/2, and add some additional blur(just slightly) and cheat it in a pleasant way. It will give you about the same result on crop body if prepared well, and lighting/light is good.

only thing is the price difference of just one lens to get that faster F stop to match FF will probably cost more than an old 5D ...good F2.8 MF 135mm lenses are cheap as chips

Saying that at least while building a collection of glass on the old 5D you aren't losing anything. I still think if shooting with one of the newer Rebel models going for and old 5D is kinda silly.

I have an old 5D AND a new rebel and a new fuji XE-2..if i chuck a camera in the car on the of chance i may see something, or just some snaps of the kids i use the rebel.. but if going to do something with intent then its the 5D ..if i can only have one of my camera and i still want to take the best looking photos i can then it will have to be the 5D....if my 5D died now i would probably just get another.as in the UK can be had for £200GBP or less..i may when the 5Diii gets to £750 get one. thats what i pay for my 5D 5 years ago 5Diii is . about £1100 now the cheapest on feebay

My 5D IS a MK1 classic
Health and safety ...saving the lives of the terminally stupid

The 5D in the US goes for anywhere between $400-$500. Mine will be around the top because seller is includeding a grip and it might have a insanity low shutter count

HA makes me feel better now.. when i see a new lens or camera and its so much cheaper in the US...so you have to pay more for S/H 5D makes it fare

I don't know, the were around $3,600 in 2005. At my local used camera store they are now $400-$500 but they really don't do much to get you a shutter count because it's so hard to find. Last time I was in I saw one with a grip that wasn't as in good of condition as the one I have lined up for $590.
