Thanks to all for the kind comments
I also got a lot of decent still shots with them with insects in their beaks etc which i'll post later.
If you want to check them out now just go to my flcikr and either search for bee-eaters, browse my bee-eater albums etc or look at my photostream
Incredible shots Vass, as always. For Australians living in the south of the country the spring arrival of these most beautiful birds heralds the start of hours spent waiting at their favourite trees or burrows for that opportunity to get the best RBE shot. Vouching for the adoration afforded these fluorescent darts the winning open digital image in my camera club's annual overall competition was one Rainbow Bee Eater perched high on a branch tossing an insect in its beak. They never loose their wonder and attraction.
Added to a wondrous psychedelic appearance is their call, a unique and unmistakable rolling whistle which is shear joy to hear.
Keep them coming Vass.
Cheers, Mark
Thanks MarkDavo
They are my favourite bird, just the way they catch insects on the wing is awesome to watch.
Iv'e spent about 18 hours all up this spring/summer watching them and taking photo's of them and learned a lot about their behaviour. Infact can't wait to get more reach and get some real good closeups of them with 300mm or more before they move north.
I would love to be a wildlife photographer one day and spend more time with them, I could easily camp out for weeks with them and never get bored if I didn't have other duties to do
I have free time now and guess what, it's been raining all week and I havn't seen the sun, A lot of NSW is flooded but I know where i'll be going if the sun should pop out
