Disappointed with GX8 image quality over GH4. My field test.

A very Happy New Year to all. This my first post as I need to get confirmation over the results. Do you find any flaw in my experiment? Your thoughts and your experience of GX8 over GH4 in particular for those that own one.

Heard so much abt the new GX8 20 MP sensor that touted to produce cleaner image than the older 16 MP. The GX8 felt so good in my hands and I like the classic range finder style that seems never run out of fashion with a nice touch of retro feel. So purchase one and did a test against my GH4.

I picked a dark area in one corner of my hse, set to RAW+Jpg, both cams on equal setting, Noise Reduction turned off. As the corner was dark, I hv to +EV 1.33 and further push up level in PP. I shot at various ISO but I will post the images here with ISO shot at 800 as I felt in dim situation, ISO 800 will likely be most used. Pic posted were 200 % crop in Raw and Jpg. I know one shld never pixel peep at such cropped, but I kind of “stress testing” the sensor.

Summary

Zero onto the black golf bag. I’m expecting the GX8 will out perform GH4 (the flagship). To my surprise, GX8 performance don’t match up. Even just with this one experiment, I’m not convinced at this stage GX8 sensor is the better one. There were so much obvious artifacts ( do you called those white dots artifacts or noise?) that my jaw almost dropped. Quite disappointed. Same phenomenal for ISO 400,1600,3200. I’m not even looking at the colour aspect yet but that is lesser importance to me.

I have searched much in the net on picture comparison bet these 2 cams but yet to stumble upon one. Can anyone post a link and prove me wrong !!

I even thought of getting a 2 body to replace my GH4. But after this test, I really do have 2 thought
