Re: Why were you expecting the same image quality from a 1" sensor?

OK, I get it.

Sensors have improved a lot. But the APS-C sensor in your EOS M3 is around three times larger than the 1" sensor in your G7X. You are pretty much comparing a 4 cylinder car with a 12 cylinder car and wondering why it isn't as powerful.

There is no plausible reason why the image quality should be just as good. Not until someone repeals the laws of optics and physics.

Thanks for the input! I guess I was under the impression that bigger sensors will show their advantage in more demanding circumstances.. but in "easier" circumstances the results would just be the same.

Yes, there's a lot of truth that there will be similarity in "easier (i.e. more lighted) conditions". Under these circumstances, the advantages of the larger sensor typically are seen if you want to crop a higher resolution image. If your main purpose is to print out 8 x 10 images in well-lit conditions, the likelihood of seeing a great deal of difference will not be that great.
