I would have to install a firmware update in order to have the automatic shut off of the lcd, I believe.

I got used to using the button to switch between the eye and lcd viewers on my vf2, so I didn't install the firmware update.

I find the eye sensor on my new em10 II to be so sensitive that sometimes it's a pain in the neck!

I don't think the eye sensor of the VF4 is ever intended to work on the E-PL5 - however, it DOES work on the E-PL6 (albeit slightly slowly) - it's one of the differentiators between the two models. There was a firmware update for the E-PL5 and the VF4, but that was just to get it to work as before the update you simply couldn't use the VF4 at all.

The VF4 works with my e-pl5s with Firmware 1.2 in them - never updated.
