For low light indoor photos, FLASH or BETTER LENSES??

Hi all,

I am fairly new to photography got my first DSLR which is CANON T2i, it has two lenses, the EF-S 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6 IS and the EF-S 55-250M F/3.5-5.6 IS.

My main question is I never like to use the flash that comes with the camera, it flattens the photo, so in case of low light I usually increase the ISO and reduce the F-stop, but this setting doesn't work when light is really low, so should I invest in better lenses with aperture 2.8 or a a good flash will do the trick?

Thanks a lot for your input.

Canon EOS 550D (EOS Rebel T2i / EOS Kiss X4)
