It seems that 3D did not succeed in the modern world. It remain a very niche only suitable for a small passionate people.

I am addicted to 3D and most of my pictures are now in 3D, but is even hard to find people to view 3D on a 3D TV more than a few minutes.

Maybe the vast amount of people are simply not interested.

I am hopping that will change.

This might be from out of the blue but have you looked into setting up a gallery in Second Life(if it is still going)?  I believe it is set up for 3D headsets.  I thought about that one a while back when pondering the same complexities of 3D images.  From my one man survey (talking to random people I have known or met ) there doesn't seem to be a huge take up of 3D TV sets and those that are bought pretty soon become 2D once the glasses are lost or broken, this happening not long after the novelty of 3D TV has worn off.

Well, I've just had a look and it seems that far from failing or fading away, the makers of Second Life is about to launch it's second generation.  It takes all types I suppose.  I'm not into that kind of thing but it does have interesting possibilities for alternative and more difficult digital media such as 3D imaging.  Don't get lost down the rabbit hole though.  Apparently some don't come back.

Ultimately, if there's no hassle of having to don viewing glasses/headsets, there's no reason why 3D wouldn't catch on like wildfire, given that humans want convenience and less work.
