Re: how to set aperture on e-pm2 with legacy glass

If you are using an older, manual everything lens, set the aperture (and focus) on the lens using the aperture and focus rings. If you are using an auto focus lens, some of the cheap adapters have an "open - lock" function. Do not assume the "lock" part has anything to do with attaching the adapter to your camera - It doesn't (It should read "open - close," but something gets lost in the translation.) Attach the adapter to your camera as you would a lens w/o an adapter. You will also have to focus manually.

I do not have your camera, but do have an E-PM-1. I used it today with a Fotasy brand adapter and a sony auto focus lens. Put the adapter on the lens in the "open" position. You can then adjust the aperture using the "open-lock/close" ring on the adapter. There are no aperture markings on the adapter, but you can figure out what you want by watching live view.

Whatever aperture you set, the camera will adjust the shutter speed for you if you shoot in Aperture Priority. If you want to be more creative, shoot in Manual, and adjust both the aperture and shutter speed, with the ISO set to Auto.

Don't forget to set the camera to "Shoot Without Lens" in the set up menu, since the adapter has no electrical connections, the camera won't recognize there is even a lens attached if you don't do that. Happy shooting!

Peace.

John
