I came across this camera shop today and saw them selling this Carl Zeiss Jena 28mm f2.8 lens for praktica mount for 15pounds. I was wondering if this lens is any good for me to use on m4/3? there seems to be a variety of carl zeiss lens out there w/ this specification going for all sorts of prices

Should be OK but remember that "Jena" lensees are not the same as regular Zeiss. As I remember, rights to the "Zeiss" name were sold to third parties and this lens was produced by Sigma. It may be hard to find a review as there are different variations ie Jena, Jena II, etc.

Carl Zeiss Jena lenses (CZJ) are from Jena, East Germany. What you meant are the 90's product line - Jena Zoom Lenses & Co, these are from Sigma, but CZJ or "aus Jena" are true Zeiss Lenses, just like from Zeiss Oberkochen, into West Germany.
