Capture One Pro 9 now has (proper) NX1 support and a much better and fine tuned noise control than Adobe's products. Caoture One's converter generally produces much richer images than LR/ACR. But it costs money. Samsung's (for-free) Raw Converter is also better than LR/ACR in terms of raw conversion and handling of noise.

I also have LR6, so I can always compare file conversion directly. I noticed that LR swallows a lot of colours and reduces chroma noise but pushes up luminance noise to a very unpleasant degree, resulting in very grainy and somewhat flat images especially in the shadows which, I think, can be seen in DPR's Dale's sample shots with the NX1, which he posted for his Pick of the Year. Other than that it's a remarkable review, btw.

I agree that LR is really disappointing, even the free Fast Stone image viewer -that I use sometimes- seems to produce better images than LR, but as I mostly process a lot of pictures per session, I follow the vulgar "quantity before quality" motto, my LR process is very quick.

If I want something else, I go to Premiere for more detailed PP work, or I use the aforementioned Fast Stone, or even the Samsung's own converter (not that much, since I discovered the Fast Stone though).

What about DxO Optics Pro? Does anyone have an opinion about this program?
