Yes, there are (at least) two ways.  There's an option to set or move the focus and exposure hold buttons.  There are about four options.  #1 is the default.  There are two buttons on the upper right.  I think it's the lower one that can swap some functions with the shutter release button.

With one option you hold that button to prevent refocusing when the shutter release is pressed.  With another option, it only focuses when you press that button.  Check the manual.

The manual and menu are rather inscrutable.  It may help to know that the menu hints are in the form

button 1/button 2.
