That one at Healesville was at least 1.5m, maybe even 1.8m, from tip of snout to the base of his/her tail. As can be seen in my photo, there is around another 1.3-1.5m of tail! A really, really big fellow for any Aussie monitor lizard! I have personally never seen one more than about 2+m before, alive or dead, even out Cunnamulla way.

He/she would have weighed around 40 kgs, at a guess. I wasn't about to hop in the pen and try to pick him up ...
A very big creature, to be sure!
