Re: There are better reasons for the lack of sales
I have a NX300 and a NX500 and the 500 is a much better camera in every sense. The 500 is a perfect B-cam for a set with the NX1.
No EVF. Not perfect at all. Not even EVF possible. It is take it or leave and people leave it. Mostly.
This is a NX300 and a NX500 comparison, and I said that NX500 is a a perfect B-cam set for the NX1. Your comment is irrelevant.
and the crop is an advantage, as you can have a wide shot with the NX1 (in an interview for example) and a close up with the 500, and you can use the 500 as an everyday camera and give the 300 to your kids/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/friends/niece/cousins/relatives/whatever, or keep it as a camera that you are not afraid to, even, destroy, if you want.
Sure...a real advantage if you own two bodies. The common public does not do this at all. The NX500 si severly crippled by this in 4K too. He is right I think.
Again this is about a very specific situation that people have multiple NXs.
One has to be deranged to expect a camera that costs 400-500$ kit to hav
e everything one needs in a camera.
G7 has it all. They did not cripple its 4K output versus GH4, it is even better straight out of the cam! They added an EVF too, same one as in GH4. So how come Samsung didn't do that?
In my opinion, Nx500 is a much better camera, and you always have the option to shoot Full HD pro with X1,5 crop factor, while mFT is X2 all the time. NXxxx series cameras DO NOT HAVE EVF, that is well known for some time now, if you need one, get another camera, but it is irrelevant to me, as I know that I am getting a NON EVF camera and I am fine with that.
The NX500 video is already very good, I do not understand why it has to be NX1 equiv. as the NX1 video is better than GH4/70D/A6000 cameras, why don't you go complain to their forums, that they do not produce a 500$ camera that does everything perfect.
Because the G7 is the answer here. I think what has been missing in the line up is an NX50. G7 from Samsung. Make it 750 dollar with that EVF and 4K video, lose the weathersealing, get people a 9 fp framerate with C-AF, take the buffer down to say 20 frames in RAW. Look at Panny and therefor give NX1 Vlog. And you are there easily. NX500 on its own has a place, but the gap between NX1 is way too big.
I agree, but the NX50 never came, so I can't talk about something that doesn't exist. The gap between NX500 and NX1 is way too big.
For the price, the NX500 is the best camera right now, and you should get one until it's too late.
G7 might be the best, A6000 might be the best, X-T10 might be the best. Where do you come from is the question. Personally I think G7 is simply a better option. Its 4K video is better and less cropped, swivle screen, excellent EVF and very good sensor. Just a more wellrounded cam if you ask me with a larger buffer too. DFD means great AF under all conditions, also in very poor light, also for C-AF.
GX8 is a better option, non G7, but as I said "for the price", my opinion doesn't change, as FOR THE PRICE, the NX500 is the best camera out there. You seem to take all the advantages of the mFT system, but you overlook the disadvantages.
With the 12-24 the crop factor is 28,8, which is not that bad for my use, or else you can do PRO full HD or you can go buy the A7Sii or A7Rii.
No way to go lower with Samsung lenses. With Panny you can go to 15 mm (G7 has a smaller crop than GH4 even). Or 19 mm etc. With AF.
I don't understand what is the argument here. I am just giving the options. a 19mm mFT is 38mm (FF equiv) at photo/HD video, and a 20mm NX is 35mm at photo/HD video. Again, you seem to overlook the obvious tiny size of the mFT sensors.
Don't take me wrong, I agree with you, but the whole world works in specific ways and utopias are non existent.
The utopia that did not exist was people going for castrated Samsung camera's nor for (to their mind) ones that were priced like a FF Sony. Also very few people would trade in their DSLR like a D7200 or D71000 for a cam that got them very little size and weight loss, like the NX1. NX1 is a great cam, but could not carve a niche in todays market because the niches it wanted to fill where way to small customerwise.
Now you are mixing the NX500 with the NX1 again. I was referring as an "Utopia", to the fact that people want a 499$ camera kit (NX500) to inlcude everything they need. This is not going to happen, ever, because a camera as the one we want (I would like my NX500 to be perfect as well, I am not stupid!) would never be allowed to cost 499$ with a decent kit lens.
NX1 competition was Canon 70D, 7II, Panasonic GH4, and NX1 is the better camera among all of them, not very competitive priced, but a better mix of all the cropped cameras.
The real problem is that the system is abandoned, but in my opinion, the system was very competitive and modern, and it deserved a better look fror people.
