Olympus uses an EFCS (electronic first curtain shutter). It delays the real shutter by 0s (so not measurable) but you can set it to 1/8 s etc. This prevents the shock from the mechanical shutter to influence the IQ. Panasonic bodies sadly lack this.

Not true. The latest Panasonic models do offer a feature called Shutter Delay. The trouble is, the shortest selectable time interval is 1 second, making the shooting experience kind of slow.

SO I am correct. There is no EFCS the way we mean. I have a GH4, the 1s delay is pretty much useless.

It is doable for casual holiday snaps when you don't care a lot that the camera takes the picture exactly 1 second after you press the shutter button. See p. 173 of GX8 manual:

Minimising vibration of the shutter
To reduce the influence of hand shake or shutter vibration, shutter is released after the
specified time has passed.

Select the menu. (P63)
Settings: [8SEC]/[4SEC]/[2SEC]/[1SEC]/[OFF]

A bit silly to my mind. Do they think the vibration takes 1s to dissipate? ?? With the GX8 I would go for the electronic shutter on anything unless you shoot things that move or where you move.
