When you shoot vídeo you also record audio, right? Maybe Samsung should tell their costumers, that their cameras shoot vídeo, but the not áudio, because their audio is always unusable. This is wrong.
In the case of the NX1, the roblem was not of hardware, it was software. I've seen this problem with áudio on Canon DSLR cameras, but they solved it along time ago, just by alowing the users to turn the AGC off. So simple. This only happened when sumsung updated the NX1, not long ago. They took a lot of time to understand that people who shot vudeo also like to have good áudio. Thy took from the first NX camera to the NX1 to finally alloe people to turn the AGC off. And what is curiou is that this is also happening with their cell phones, laptops, you name it... as you can see here:

Which makes me reach to this conclusion: Samsung likes bad áudio
flip has a point. If you offer video, then you should have a mic input. Look at the Rebel series they all have a mic input and they are consumer DSLRs. Now if you consider the Sony A6000 ILC as the camera the NX500 was copying then you have to ask why the NX500 was priced higher? If you want to eat Sony's lunch you have to come in lower priced especially in the consumer market.
I think more of an issue was that they sold it as a 4K camera, then it got reviewed and frowned upon because crop 4k on aps-c, did not support a wide angle, which is was a primary reason to shoot video in 4k!!! Crop 4k to 1080p in post anyone??? They should have just sold it as a best in class aps-c 1080p ILC camera. And yes they goofed on the mic input as well.
