Care to point out some examples of "Visibly worse IQ" (using e shutter)

No. Well documented.

Even with my GX7, I would say there is not an in use visibly different IQ between electronic shutter and mechanical shutter.

Although, if I had a very high contrast scene and wasn't using HDR I would probably shift to mechanical shutter so I could extract as much detail in PP as possible.

But GX8 has a 12-bit e-shutter. It captures equal details and comes with the added benefit of 1/16000s shutter, albeit not for rapidly moving subjects.

Agreed. I wonder how long the GX8 12 bit e-shutter is. On previous cameras it seems to be that with full bit complement, the duration of the e-shutter is 1/15th, with missing bits it is shorter than 1/20th.

To me this more a factor in how to use the camera, rather than which I should buy.

So far, I haven't pulled the trigger on an upgrade yet, I will probably wait until October 2016 before deciding.

I read on this forum that the read-out time is about 1/25. But I have no idea if it is true.
