Really Right Stuff X-E1/X-E2 Baseplate

Review of Really Right Stuff X-E1/X-E2 Baseplate
My tripod has an Arca Swiss compatible ball head. While it's easy to slide my X-E2 on or off the tripod once I have the baseplate screwed onto my X-E2's tripod mount, I still have to remove the X-E2 from the tripod and unscrew the baseplate to change the battery or memory card. Plus the X-E2 tripod mount is off center from the lens mount. I looked at the Fuji external grip and several of the Chinese versions on Ebay as well, but I really did not want the grip, just the baseplate.
But then I came across the Really Right Stuff X-E1/X-E2 Grip which is comprised of three separate pieces; the baseplate, the grip, and an L-bracket. They can be ordered as a set, baseplate and grip or L-bracket, each piece separately. Not wanting the grip and not doing a lot of tripod mounted vertical shots, I ordered the baseplate only for $60 plus shipping.
The base plate is like the Fuji base plate with a cutout to access the battery compartment, a tripod mount centered behind the lens mount, and doubles as an Arca-Swiss compatible base-plate. As you would expect from Really Right Stuff, the build quality and finish of this aluminum base is top notch and it fits my X-E2 perfectly. The plate has a stop screw at one end that would prevent the plate from slipping out of the Arca Swiss mount in the vertical position. The stop screw can be removed if not wanted. My only complaint is that both the mounting screw and the stop screw need a hex wrench to add or remove the baseplate. The two Hex wrenches are supplied but that means having them with you if you want to remove the baseplate in the field for some reason.
Really Right Stuff makes baseplates, L-brackets, and grips for all the Fuji X-cameras except the X-30, the S2 and most of the medium format cameras.
The centerline of the lens mount is marked on the plate to align it with the center axis of the ball head.
There are three small screw holes to securely mount the optional grip
The X-E2 is 90 degrees vertical to show the easy access to the battery compartment and the stop screw that prevents the X-E2 from sliding out of the mount if it slipped down for some reason.
