Re: OM-D E-M5II does auto correction of CAs on Panasonic lenses

Hello,

I have read again and again that Olympus bodies do not auto correct the CAs if used with Panasonic lenses.

I am currently working on a comparison review between the Panasonic 14-140mm (II) and the Olympus 14-150mm (II) and was very surprised to see that the E-M5 removed the CAs of the Panasonic lens in the ooc-jpgs.

It seems that Olympus and Panasonic have started to improve compatiblity.

Regards,

Jan

What you've read is likely well meaning people (hey, I'm an optimist) rehashing old info. Others have confirmed several times around here that all Olympus bodies do full CA corrections for Panasonic lenses ever since the E-M1 (Panasonic started with the G5 IIRC). They've both been pretty much on par as far as corrections for essentially a couple years now.

That doesn't change the fact that *with certain Panasonic lenses* you might still see more purple fringing on Oly bodies. Panasonic builds a thicker UV stack unto their sensors and designs their lenses with this in mind, the theory is that Oly tends to design lenses themselves to filter more UV... Obviously not all lenses will be equally effective at it, just like all kinds of CA aren't easily corrected for in software.
