Re: How to Photograph the Milky Way (T3i)

Hey rjgjr, just read your post about shots of the Milky Way. I saw a lot of people doing amazing shots like yours on the internet and it drives me nuts that I am just not able to do so. I was trying to get them with a rebel t5/1200d and the 18-55 is II or the 40mm pancake. I tried it with low, medium and high iso. Large aperture and a little bit smaller and exposure times from 5 to 30s, but all I get is a bunch of stars, noise, a carpet of artifacts giving the sky a red shining and last but not least hot and cool pixels. I am already wondering if it is even possible with my rookie dslr. What do you think I am doing wrong? I don't get it... Thanks in advance.

Matthias
