Is the Panny 14-140 worth $150 more than the Oly 14-150?

big concern to me because if I bought pana 14-140mm II , lots of pics will be at the wide end

My own research suggests that, compared with the Olympus 14-150 II, the Panasonic 14-140 II tends to be worse at the wide end and quite a bit better at the tele end. The Panny is also sensitive to shutter shock (as slrgear shows). Ephotozine found the Tamron 14-150 to be in between the two at the wide end, best around the middle, and worst at the tele end. I guess that's well and just. These lenses all compromise, each in its own way.

I bought the Olympus lens for its proven wide-half performance and weather sealing. Got it on sale with an E-M5 II. No regrets at all. The edges and corners are somewhat soft and don't benefit much from stopping down; otherwise, sharpness and contrast from 14-70mm are simply breathtaking even wide open. Seriously! CA is not a problem at all. The long half lacks sharpness: usable to 150mm, but my cheap 40-150 and my 75-300 II seem better in that shared range of 75-150.

I imagine some samples are better than others at certain focal lengths, but who wants to play the lens lottery?
