Yeah didn't they think the same about the NX line? how they wanted to be #1 in 5 years?
we saw how that went.
however I suspect they will try something different in the smartphone realm that may be disruptive.
That makes more sense than anything else I have heard. Maybe Samsung came to the conclusion that from a profitability point of view, stand alone cameras are basically dead and the future of photography for the masses is the cell phone, and that there is vast area for improvement in cell phone photography technology. Much more so than with dedicated camera technology.
I can't say that I would disagree with that.
So, if you want to be where the $$ is, what Samsung is doing makes perfect sense.
yup.
we talked about olympus .. can you blame Samsung for reading the tea leaves and going . this is stupid?
I think Olympus is fighting the valiant fight, and teaming up with Panasonic probably saved them from doom, but even they are struggling.
I think they are only in it as a matter of corporate pride, and for that reason will survive if they don't loose too much $$.
Olympus will stick just because it's so much of their Corporate DNA.
Same really with Fuji.
as long as the division doesn't bled money, they are content.
Sony - if the division doesn't make money, they are out.
Panasonic - hard to say.
I am curious to see BCN's report this year though.
Samsung does something like Light Technologies camera system and puts it into the next flagship smartphone?
I'd even line up at midnight to get it.
Millions would. Not me, but millions nevertheless.
Tedolph doesn't line up for anything; everything lines up for Tedolph.
