Err 01 Communications btwn camera and lens is faulty. Clean the lens contacts
Re: Err 01 Communications btwn camera and lens is faulty. Clean the lens contacts
I am getting "error 01 communications between camera and lens faulty" error on my canon t5i. I use Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. I did clean my contacts. Nothing works. The problem comes and goes and when it does happen, I would have to change my aperture or ISO to fix it. But if I revert back to the aperture or ISO that the error occurred on, I won't be able to take a picture because I get error 01 again.
The lens would also zoom in and zoom out over and over again without being able to focus.
I am not the only one with this error on a Canon, and I am hoping someone has a solution and know whether it is the lens or the camera.
Your problem is not the contacts but rather the aperture blades getting stuck whenever you stop down from f/1.8. What you need to do is shoot in manual mode at f/1.8. What you will notice is as soon as you stop down the aperture the blades get stuck resulting in the error. That being said you may consider having the blades cleaned or repaired though I'm not sure if it's worth it. This is a common problem with the nifty fifty plastic lens which made mr revert to the 50mm 1.8 MK1 which so far has been serving me well. I've read that the new STM version is good but I'm an old fashioned guy who believed that newer tech just doesn't offer the quality manufacture build as past tech.
