Scroll down a bit in this thread where the topic switches (on the G5x) to a discussion of the L quality vs sL quality. I found this informative:

Thanks for the link! Great, I'm so glad you told me about this. I also tried the custom color setting Carolyn uses, and I like it. It makes the colors pop, but the overall exposure is lower so it allows a faster shutter speed. Very nice!

Your photos are grand! Obviously you know how to get the best/most out of the G9X.

Thank you for your sweet words! I must admit, a lot of credit goes to the camera itself. It's a very easy camera to use. I am still new to photography, I got interested in it this summer. I had S90 for 5 years and (confession) the mode dial was permanently set to Auto. It's very easy to change settings on the G9X's touch screen and its compactness allows me to snap pictures very casually. And its IQ is impressive. All these facts make me want to take more pictures and experiment, which helps me grow as a better photographer. I am very happy I purchased this camera.

I'm kinda on the fence about this camera. The short zoom, only 85mm, and the wide end only 28mm. I can live with the 85, but the 28 loses me.....but I can live with it. If need be I can have my EOS M3 with the 11mm-22mm with me for the wide shots.

I had a similar concern. Sort of. I love portraits with creamy bokeh, and G9X is definitely not a camera for it. But I've made peace with it, thinking I'd use my APS-C camera with a prime lens for those occasions.

Plus some poster on this Forum complained about the "cheap?" build and the lack of "heft" because it's so light. What say you? I've been to Best Buy here, but as yet no G9X.

I saw that post and here is my reply to it:

In short, I have no concern for the durability of my G9X. Feels very sturdy in my hands. Even comparing to my Sony A6000, I don't feel it's less sturdy. But it might be the metallic color that's giving me that illusion.
