Sounds like good conditions to clog it up. I assume you had no issue after the alcohol clean? I have never had an issue with just water in my camera (I buried my 600D in snow so many times in Iceland I lost count). But it was new, so there was very little gunk inside that might act as an electrolyte. Another possibility is that the condensation turned dry gunk into gooey gunk, causing the contact to clog shut. If the camera body was also exposed to a lot of direct sunlight, it will heat up substantially more than the ambient temperatures, which may have caused some expansion of the materials

Actually, after going back to air conditioning it started behaving normally, then I started to slowly expose it again to the heat. I'm sure there was salt in the air too. I'm not sure if that would help act as a conductor or not?

I've had other problems similar in these conditions. Like one time my T2i sensor actually fogged up in Cozumel, also have had inner lens elements temporarily fog up while in the Cayman islands for awhile.

As far as the T4i, I've always taken pretty good care of it and it's only got about 17k clicks on it. At the time I was thinking that it was having a motherboard failure or some kind of electronic failure.

Does anyone else have similar experiences with their cameras while in the Caribbean?

My Xt screen ended up with a funny looking smudge behind it whilst in Jamaica. My wife had the air condition on in the hotel room at the coldest setting. The dramatic change in climate from extreme cold to hot may have been the culprit when I took my camera outside. The funny thing is, to this day the camera still has that weird smudge behind the screen even though it works perfectly.
