I've got a half dozen or more of the wonderful Wasabi 3rd party batteries - which last as long (if not longer) than the OEM types. Wasabi is one brand of 3rd party batteries (with higher quality, higher mAH Japanese cells) than most of the other models. So I'm not worried about the battery issue as they will always be available. And keep in mind that there are still a wealth of 3rd party batteries out there for cameras who have long since ceased production from a variety of brands (i.e. Konica Minolta, etc).

I don't want to put a damper on your optimism but 3rd party battery manufacturers only carry on making batteries for products while there is sufficient demand for those batteries.  And that depends on the size of the installed base.  In the case of Samsung you have to consider how many of individual products has Samsung sold, and if especially if it is a unique battery, is it worth a 3rd party catering for that market?  I'll leave you to consider that one.
