Liked reading of your journey to find an upgrade to your E-M5 that completely satisfied. For me, it always comes back to how amazingly right Olympus got the original to still make it a challenge to replace some 3 years later. Really, my only true motivation would be banishing shutter shock.

From all I've read, the E-M10 II really does seem closer to a replacement for the E-M5 than the E-M5 II does. Henry summed it up well several months back:

"I have off and on thought about the E-M5II, but I prefer a tilting LCD, prefer a builtin flash, don't care about hires, and don't care about weather resistance."

It's also closer in weight at .86 lb. compared to the E-M5's .94 lb., with the E-M5 II coming in at 1.03 lb. Having tried a 5 II, I was immediately put off by its extra weight compared to my 5 original, which feels just right.

Olympus managed to strip away features I have no desire for (articulated LCD, hi-res mode), added ones I find convenient (built-in flash, tilt LCD), and cut the weight and price in the process.

Yes, you lose weathersealing and the larger EVF, but you do get a small bump in EVF magnification and apparently great sharpness. I also question whether the 5 II's IS is noticeably superior to the 10 II, love to see an actual comparison test on this.

I may still hold out for a new sensor and a real advance in CDAF tracking ability in the next generation a year or so from now. No pressure, my E-M5 original still performs nicely.
