Excuse my scepticism Sam but you've been here before with the Panny GH? and E-M5 mk2 cameras.
Maybe this time you'll have found your 'significant other' and will remain faithful but maybe you're just not ready for a long term (photographic) relationship
Screen type preference aside, I can't see what would impress him on the E-M10 II compared to the E-M5 II... I guess there's touchpad AF too, and a cheaper grip. The E-M5 II grip is kinda ridiculous...
What impresses me c/w the EM5 ii (and GX8) are things like
Raw files, seem overall less noisy and more detailed by default in LR with a great flat/colour accurate adobe profile. The EM5 ii never seems right and the GX8 is also unpredictable
EVF, better colour accuracy, low light contrast, lag, sharpnes than either GX8 and or EM5 ii
Size, I find the EM-5 ii ( and the GX8 ) too large in all honesty c/w original EM-5
Ergonomics, much prefer the EM10 ii, at first I thought it too small but I really like it now. The little grip options are neat too without adding bulk weight.
Flash, built-in option.
Video, not mushy like the EM5 ii and strobey/stuttery like the GX8 with the 12-23/14-140 (EM-1/5 ii had this problem too to a lesser extent)
C-AF, maybe the EM5 ii can do the same, I didn't really try but I have found the EM10 ii C-AF up there with the DFD of the GX8, problem is the GX8 stops at 30 frames raw and you wait ages to go again. No such problem with the EM-10 ii, its C-AF feels top notch for various fast(ish) moving objects. Maybe the BIF will be a problem, will try soon.
Overall, apart from the weather sealing, which might be a big deal for others, I think the EM10 ii is a really great MILC option, can't currently think of anything better for size and capability.
