ah yes ... now you are making it difficult ... i shall keep it in mind ... yes to better quality except i was under the impression (when i first went to Canon G ... a 9 after the ixus) that the quality was great and a backup camera for professionals ... maybe its all moved on...

Yes technology moves on. The compacts with the 1/1.7" sensor were the main alternative for a DSLR user looking for a "enthusiasts compact" type camera. The 1" sensor compacts are now fulfilling that genre.

i shall look into it ... G5x, G16 .... so, why not a G9x? putting aside budget which will drive the ultimate decision of course ...

G9 X the choice if wanting a high-end pocket size is a high priority. IMHO the G9 X the replacement for the S120 (S110, etc.). For the smaller pocket size you settle for (compared to G16) No EVF, no hot shoe, slower max f/4.9 aperture at tele focal length, etc.

I'm waiting for the initial "newness" first price drop to get the G9 X as a replacement/ upgrade to my S110, when I want the advantages of having a "pocket" camera.

As noted previously will eventually get the G5 X as a replacement/ upgrade to my G15.

As always, to each his/her own needs/ preferences.

Cheers,
Jon
