Samsung rumours aside, you should give the NX500 a good look, even if its screen is only tilting. But you can flip it all way up to take selfies with it! And it's a fantastic touch sceen. The camera is addictive and fun, producing excellent images even with its 16-50 kit lens, with which it is not much bigger than a very good compact, except for Sony's tiny RX100 series. IQ with the NX500 is much better, though.

Andrea, if you look again at the picture above of the man and dog, you will notice that it is taken from about ankle height (to include the foreground water). That was possible because I could angle the screen at 90 degrees (with the camera in portrait mode) to compose the shot. You cannot do that with a tilting screen (unless you have a tilting neck)!

That's the reason many of us want a fully articulating screen. If manufacturers are going to the trouble of hinging a screen to tilt, why not make it fully articulating? It is no more flimsy that way, and taking the EX1/2 as an example, it adds no more bulk to the camera. If a manufacturer adds a tilting screen to a camera to facilitate selfies, then I have a hard time taking that model seriously (no matter what its picture quality is like).

There are so many pictures to look at on the Internet that it is very difficult to post something that is a bit different. One of the ways to create a striking picture is to use an extreme POV. To do that we need a fully articulating screen.

Are you listening Samsung, Sony, Canon, et al? Panasonic, Canon, and Nikon put fully articulating screens on some of their cameras, usually the DSLR type, so why not on the more compact cameras too?

This has been a public appeal on behalf of the 'Let's take more interesting photos' Club. Rant over.
