For me the 85mm 1.8 is THE home studio portrait lens.

Working distance is perfect for a small amateur studio.
I once took pictures of 3 different friends in one single 5 hour session. With a heavy 70-200 2.8 lens, that would not have been funny.

I also use the lens for "events" like birthday parties for example. People are not scared by this little lens.

I am just not the heavy zoom kind of guy.
