At that price, it makes a super take-with-all-the-time camera. Plus, you can get the tele extender AND the Sony grip attachment for an extra $19 each.

Bought one myself.....what's a little more debt, right? ;)

Great find. How do you get to the $19 extras? Not seem to be on the 'accessories' tab. First picture shows body-only w/out lens but words say lens included.
Click on the link next to the yellow "Special Offer" box: "Create your bundle and save up to $60" . That brings up a set of tabs... the first tab has the lens, the second the grip.

Right. Thanks. I'd be interested to learn whether the teleconverter is any good.

I'm curious, does the GM5 differ from the GF7 at all besides one having an EVF and one having the tilt screen?

The GF7 is going for $459 nowadays.

Yeah their return policy is a bit much but since it is close by and the same price as the Sony HX90V then I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I am now looking at the PL 15mm after using the camera for a few days I really like it.

And meanwhile it's still a stubborn $999 at some Aus retailers - I bet they are not selling too many at that price...

Amazon has it also for $499 with lens and another deal (Amazon but from Ritz camera) the same with a lots of goodies (battery, SD cards etc)

Does it actually work with the 12-32? Seems to indicate it's for an older kit lens. That's petulant the cheapest I've seen the grip tho... And I'd still pay a couple more for Franiec's instead. :p
Yes, it does work with the 12-32mm also :) . I haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet, though, so can't tell you much about its optical quality.

The grip is cute, but I seem to do fine without it, so I may end up ebaying it down the road....not sure yet. Looks nice on the camera, though.

Cool, I'd be curious to see how well it works. And wow, auto correct replaced probably with petulant on my previous post... I didn't think I wanted a grip originally, and lived without one for months. I still think it's unnecessary for shooting, even one handed (at least with smaller lenses), buuut I recently bought the Franiec grip for a peripheral reason.

Maybe I'm just odd, but I figured out that holding the camera (which I tend to keep on a wrist strap, tho I have QRs so I switch it up often) with a strong pinch while I'm holding it DOWN (i.e.not actively shooting) was indeed very uncomfortable... Enough so that if I was holding it for a bit rather than throwing it in a bag I'd end up adjusting my grip without even thinking about it.

I noticed I'd either palm the rear/bottom (screen side) or I'd grab it by the lens... No big deal, except if a quick shot comes up I'd have to readjust. Having a slight grip to sort of hang it or balance it out against your finger helps when holding it down while not shooting, at least for me, I've got pretty long fingers.

That is a good find. not long ago that was the price you would get a PAL gray market camera at.
Hey

Can someone enlighten me to what the difference between GM5 and GM1 is ?? Speed and sensor is the same right, is it only about the EVF ( I would not use that ever :0) ??

Kind regards

Jakob

Primarily the EVF, the revised controls and no built-in flash. The DPR mini-review details the differences between the two.

Cheers,

Rick

Smaller screen on the GM5 too, I prefer the larger one + built in flash for my uses. The GM5 does have several software improvements tho, more than most reviews will let on. Auto ISO and eye detect AF are new to it, it has better video specs and an auto pano mode too, I'm forgetting some other stuff.

There's the hot shoe too, and the GF is more than likely not as well built, less Fn buttons and no Custom sets on the dial too... Not that it isn't a good value nonetheless.
