Dan,

I personally have no doubt that you are not any beginner in the photography. It was just unfortunate to make (and publish ) those comparisons. Anyway, the more replies you'll get, the more you might be confused. I strongly advice you to forget (at least for a while) another zoom lens. If you really want to see what your DSLR can deliver, go for the prime lens(es). And I would strongly recommend the DA 35/2.4 lens. Its focal length (52mm eq.) is what we mainly used in the film era, a perfectly universal lens. With a discount you might get it pretty cheap.

Peter

Dan,

If you are still watching your thread, then look at the following link:

And if you can find the DA 35/2.4 for a similar price, you will be fine for years to come.

Peter

Peter,

I just feel too confined with a single focal length lens. I tried mine at 50mm and don't seem to have enough mobility to suit me and I do not want to change lenses for every situation. Thanks anyway. By the way, contrary to what I said I was going to do, keeping my 18-55, I have just ordered the 18-135mm and a good quality 62mm UV filter as well as a new bigger camera bag to fit the new setup. I am comfortable with the purchase.....

Dan

May God bless you every day on into eternity through His glorious Son Jesus.
