Thank you for your answers! Turns out the problem was a wobbly soldering between the wire and the circuit. I soldered it again and the camera now works.

I didn't take into account a shorting failure for the 7808, so I will surely add a crowbar circuit to protect the camera from overvoltage. I'm referring to this page http://axotron.se/index_en.php?page=26 and I think will go for the version with the MC3423, but I have no idea if the fuse blowing time will be short enough to protect the camera circuitry.

As regards the amperage, the 1A fuse is still intact after a few test shots, so I think the current required by the camera lies somewhere between 0.5 and 1 A.

Thank you again and sorry for my carelessness.

Hi,

Sorry about the delay in posting...

Glad you got the circuit working OK.

I suspect that the 7808 is limiting the max current to about 1 Amp, so the fuse may take a very long time to blow.

You could try reducing the fuse to (say) 800mA, also the Thyristor T1 could be moved to the input side of the 7808. (But obviously keep the voltage detection part (IC + R1 & R2) on the output side)

Regards

Andy.
