i think what will be interesting to see is do we get two M's next feb or just one?

in a perfect world, we'd see a new M4 in the style of the M3 (external EVF,etc) and that would end up being the middle tiered camera, and a larger more upmarket one with the M4x bigger, with internal EVF and DPAF.

even really with two different models .. it's just not enough to satisfy the varied demand.

hopefully DiGiC 7 will bring in some significant performance increases that are pretty desperately needed.

I wonder whether there will be another DPAF model from Canon - DSLR or MILC?

I can't see why not.

Rightly or wrongly, Canon might not want to go back down to 20mp for the M4.

entirely depends on whether or not they can scale up.  then again, we have m43's selling at 18, fuji selling at 16 .. only really sony has gone up to 24 and rumored 28mp.

to be honest, if they don't make a MILC version of the sensor, i would rather stick with the 18mp that had alot less issues than the DSLR 24mp sensor anyways.

without offsetted microlenses, the 24mp just simply does not perform as well as it could.

and of course the problem with offsetted microlenses is that they don't work as well for adapted lenses then.

so catch 22.
