The rain came roaring down
4

A few preliminary drops, then the sudden deluge roaring on the corrugated iron roof, the archetypal tropical downpour.

The gutter outlet to the tank is a bit blocked, so in no time, the gutter was over flowing.

I got the GX7 with the 12-35 out to try a few rain photo experiments.

Using autofocus looking out through the rain and the overflow from the gutter go the garden, I got this:

I experimented with a few shutter speeds. Too high a speed reduced the roaring downpour to almost a few drops; too low a speed gave interesting lines of rain but they were not strong enough to swtand out.

Next step was to experiment with focus -- focusing in the plane of the drops.

Sorry, folks, I got nuffin'! These tropical downpours can last a fair while, but mostly don't. As I got focused using a handy pole supporting the roof overhang, there was a lull, then the rain settled down to just ordinary and 20 minutes later, it was all over.

And that was that for the day!

NEXT TIME, I will test focus first. Tune in for the next exciting episode!

It might not be such a dramatic effect for quite a while -- about a year -- though, because I have already texted the landlord asking for the gutters to be cleaned and one cleaning normally lasts through the wet season, which is starting now. LOL.
