the blotches are not violett nor magenta, they are red in foveon photos.

there is a fine tool in RT to edit HSV-Values. on the the H tab one can shift the red channel to brown or beige and blotches go away.

I tried with the channel saturation and hue shift in LR5. The "purple/magenta/red" zone I see do not completely disappear even though I desaturate the red channel or I change the hue towards brown. Similarly using the HSV-Equalizer in RT, even though I'm not sure to understand this tool. However by playing with the purple, magenta, and red channels there is an improvement of the image quality. Many thanks again, I did not figure out that also the red channel was concerned.

Claudio

this is what I do often with high iso shots esp. on landscapes where red is not so important than cleanness.
