Thanks. Will the Olympus Viewer Scene Mode correction correct correctly for a Panasonic wide converter on a Panasonic lens?

I guess not as the correction is set for the Olympus accessory and not the Panasonic one of course. The add-on itself has no data connection so there's no way of knowing what is attached, only the base lens distortion correction can be applied as that is what the camera can talk to.

Other than distortion, are there any other ill effects of shooting in PASM modes?

The PASM modes deliver straight results determined by the camera aperture and shutter and ISO settings along with the choice of jpeg output style and offsets for Contrast, Saturation and Sharpness. The PASM modes deliver predictable results based on your adjustments, the Scene modes are basically in the hands of some guy in a white coat in Japan as to what happens to your image.

A bit like using iAuto mode, that automatically selects a suitable Scene mode by guessing what you are shooting, and if not able to guess then drops back to plain P mode. The result is that anything cam happen to your image. Two shots taken one after the other may look totally different as the firmware has decided that it wanted to use a different Scene mode for the second shot.

So for predictability and to retain user sanity, using the PASM modes makes most sense and then fine tune the jpeg or preferably the raw file later in post process to get exactly what you need from the file.
