Re: Newer equivalent to the 330 HS

I don't really have a problem with "only" 35 mm. In my film SLR's, I always had a 35 mm lens in the kit. I'm not really a wider angle fan, so 35 is fine for me; however, on travel, I often found I was in a place where I couldn't move to get the composition I wanted, so I grudgingly went to zoom with 28 mm at the wide end.

I had both the SD870IS and the SD880IS. I bought the latter based on Ken Rockwell's glowing review; but the SD870IS was actually the better camera. The S90 was better still, so I said goodbye to both and later updated the S90 to the S95, for a negligible improvement.

I am truly amazed at how good the S90/95 is. Good dynamic range, really excellent color, and with the Franiec grip, great handling. It's my dinner camera, and goes along on travel as both a backup and as the pocket camera, paired with the FZ1000. The FZ1000 is an excellent camera and has completely replaced my Canon 70D, lenses, and flashes. The FZ1000 can wirelessly control off-camera flash using the built in flash, so it has even taken over my portrait and group shot work.

During Spring Break in 2016, my 330HS is going to Europe with my grandson for a French Club trip to Paris, Rome, and Madrid. He has a smart phone; but I'd love to turn him to the light side.
