Re: It's time to replace the carry around camera

Most of my snaps are done in bright sunlight with fast lenses wide open and pushed or pulled.

Not interested in an electronic shutter, the reason for changing camera is to get more DR.

Apart from the lack of DR my E-PM1 is fine.
A 1/500 shutter speed is going to be a real pain.  I'm normally shooting at 1/4000 and considering using an ND.  One of the great virtues of the E-M1 is the 1/8000 shutter.
I fear I may have made a serious error here.
Foolish of me.  I was tempted by one being sold way below normal price from Germany.

But am I correct in thinking there is a quality hit in RAW if you use the electronic shutter?

Apparently a bit of a drop in DR, I can't say I've noticed it on the GM1, which is the same.

With the way Louis sometimes raises the shadows for printing big, it could very well be noticeable. However this camera is probably not bought for that purpose...

He wants it for snaps, it's overkill to be honest.
