This is an old thread, but in the interval since it was last active I've purchased the 17.5mm f/0.95 Voigtlander and have discovered that, on my GH3 at least, this f/0.85 lens would really have no speed advantage.  That's because the sensor is limited to a light cone of around f/1.2 or so.  Opening my Voigtlander lens up from f/1.4 to f/0.95 only gives about a 1/2 stop speed improvement because the f/0.95 aperture seems to be too wide to completely enter the sensor's photosite wells.

So I see absolutely no advantage whatsoever in the f/0.85 aperture.  And if it's achieved by compromising other characteristics such as contrast or resolution than there would be a very real disadvantage.

It's quite possible that new sensor designs could overcome this limitation.   But IMHO right now there doesn't seem to be a reason for this lens.
