Tamron AF 70-300 lens not working with new Pentax K50

I recently replaced my Pentax K100D with a K50.  Since I got the K50 I've only used my Tamron AF 18-200 lens;  however, this morning I switched to the 70-300 lens, and the camera doesn't seem to recognize it.  It won't set the aperture, just keeps flashing 'F--' on the display.  The lens worked with my K100D, although it's been a while since I used it.  Can someone help me here?

Thanks,

Harry
